I am a Western-trained psychiatrist who believes that all aspects of the person contribute to the development of illness and the maintenance of health.  In Whole Person Psychiatry, I guide people to develop their mental, physical, and spiritual tools, so they can use their powerful inner capability for healing, creativity, and personal growth.  When we achieve a balance among all these parts, we can live our lives with a sense of joyfulness, vitality and excitement and can fully experience the pleasures of love, work and play.

My work focuses on the following health challenges:

PERSONS LIVING WITH SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL ILLNESS -- Many of the people I work with have lives that have been powerfully altered by a physical illness.  They may be seeking ways to deal with their grief and loss, or to find some new sense of meaning and purpose in their lives.

ANXIETY MANAGEMENT/STRESS REDUCTION -- I utilize a variety of relaxation techniques and when necessary, Western medications and herbal preparations to help people cope effectively with excessive stress and anxiety.

DEPRESSION/MOOD DISORDERS -- Many healing approaches - psychotherapy, self-care techniques (exercise, diet, spiritual practices, relaxation) and body-centered therapies (medication, herbal preparations, nutritional supplements) - are utilized to help people heal more quickly and completely.

INSOMNIA MANAGEMENT -- Loss of sleep can be a chronic, disabling problem for many people.  Behavioral therapies and medication/herbal management can provide relief and help people return to more normal sleep patterns.

I have worked in individual, couples, groups, and workplace settings.  To provide my patients with the broadest array of healing tools possible, I frequently refer to alternative practitioners here at RiverHill, including Yoga, Massage,& Acupuncture.  For further information contact me at 443-535-0200.
