Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage can be an important part of a personal health and fitness program. Massage has powerful healing qualities. It can be helpful in the restoration of health and recovery from injury, but massage is also the perfect wellness medicine because you don’t have to be sick or hurt to use it.

Recent studies suggest that massage, as complementary therapy, can facilitate growth and development, enhance attentiveness and learning, lessen pain, reduce stress and alleviate symptoms of autoimmune and immune disorders. Some of the specific conditions which have been successfully treated with therapeutic massage are:

  • Postoperative Pain

  • Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Migraine Headaches

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Spinal Cord Injury

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Eating Disorders

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • Depression

  • Diabetes

  • Asthma

  • Anxiety

  • High Blood Pressure

  • Insomnia

  • Injuries such as sprains and fractures

Therapeutic massage is the manipulation of soft tissue by trained therapists for the purpose of facilitating growth, reducing pain, increasing alertness, diminishing depression and enhancing immune function. It is one of the oldest forms of treatment in the world, described in China during the second century B.C. and soon after in India and Egypt.
