B vitamins and Back Pain: A combination of Vitamins B1, B6 and B12 has shown to
be useful in preventing a recurrence of back pain and in reducing the amount of
pain medication needed to treat the pain. The doses used in the study were
Vitamin B1 50-100 mgs, Vitamin B6 50-100 mgs. and Vitamin B12 500 micrograms.
Each vitamin was taken three times per day. High doses of Vitamine B6, such as
those used in this study require a doctors supervision and should not be taken

2. Vitamin B2 and Migraine Headaches: A double blind study compared
Riboflavin, (400 mgs per day), with placebo in 55 patients with migraine in a
three-month trial. Riboflavin was superior to placebo in reducing attack
frequency and headache days. The proportion of the patients who improved by at
least 50% was 15% for placebo and 59% for fiboflavin. There were no side effects
noted in the riboflavin group. This study suggests that high dose Riboflavin may
be useful in a comprehensive migraine headache prevention program.
3. Breast Cancer Risk and Carotenoids: A prospective
study looked at levels of certain vitamins in women who subsequently developed
breast cancer. They found that there was a lower incidence of cancer in women
who had higher levels of the carotenoids such as lycopene. Lycopene is found in
red fruits and vegetables such as red grapefruit and tomato products. Lycopene
